Artist Statement:
The more I learn the more I realize how little I really know – as is true for knowledge in general. Learning to paint has taught me to be more observant, catching detail far more quickly than I used to; carefully noting the shadows and moving light, contrasts and mix of colors. I see colors that I didn’t notice before – for instance the colors I would select to paint a hillside or a cloud. It’s fun and endlessly fascinating.
Painting has become a passion. I especially enjoy plein air painting with friends, on the back porch, in the garden, the woods and fields. The world appears in fresh detail.
Creativity takes many forms and is an aspect of every part of my life. I enjoy writing and photography as well as painting. I listen to audio books while working, dance, garden, hike and have traveled extensively.
